Passalacqua is the smallest of Sikovia's Lake Como hotels and runs more like a private estate than a resort. The 18th-century villa in Moltrasio, once home to Count Andrea Lucini-Passalacqua and to the composer Vincenzo Bellini, keeps its frescoes, Murano chandeliers and antique furniture, and sits above terraced lakeside gardens. The De Santis family, who also own Grand Hotel Tremezzo, reserve the house, restaurant and gardens for staying guests. The appeal is privacy and period interiors rather than a long list of facilities.
Editorial assessmentAgainst Sikovia's other Lake Como hotels, Passalacqua is the choice for privacy and period interiors: roughly a third the size of Grand Hotel Tremezzo or Mandarin Oriental, with no public restaurant scene. Il Sereno offers similar intimacy in a modern idiom; Tremezzo and Victoria trade intimacy for more facilities.
